ABOUT THE EXHIBIT:
The Neon Republic brings together two interconnected artistic practices that interrogate power, identity, and mythology through painting, sculpture, mirrors, and immersive storytelling. Autumn Mae examines the fragile architecture of contemporary political life—exposing systems of control, propaganda, and contradiction through repurposed materials and iconography—while Chris Tobar’s The Neon Rodeo reimagines Western mythology through an Afro-Latino lens, transforming the cowboy into a figure of searching, identity, and belonging. Together, their work creates a charged environment where past, present, and imagined futures collide, asking: who writes the story of a nation—and what becomes possible when artists reclaim the narrative?
