TERTULIAS: a Spanish language series

The Tertulias series welcomes the winners of the Enrique Fierro Creative Writing Contest for short readings.
Come join us to celebrate the Spanish language. The third Thursday of every month, Alienated Majesty Books, Hablemos escritoras, and the Spanish Creative Writing Initiative at UT Austin invite you to listen and read, out loud, the works of students and our favorite authors to celebrate the richness of this diverse and expansive language and share its culture.
✦✦✦ ABOUT THE ORGS ✦✦✦
Produced in Austin, Texas, and founded in 2018, Hablemos escritoras is the largest encyclopedia and voice repository in the world specializing in female writers, translators, and critics in Spanish, as well as the publishing houses and magazines that publish them. Our website fosters interactive discovery through book reviews, indices, search tags, and a catalog with thousands of titles. Every week we release a new episode on the site and on major podcast platforms. On our blog, we post mini-reviews and book recommendations, along with posts about literature, culture, and society.
The Spanish Creative Writing Initiative was launched in the Fall 2019, with the visit of author and screen-writer Laura Esquivel. It is designed to give our students the tools to explore new ways of expression, expand their imagination, and improve their writing. In these years, through our selection of course offerings at the undergraduate and graduate level as well as workshops conducted with distinguished authors from all over the Spanish-speaking world, we have worked together with our students to celebrate the creative component of the language in the classrooms. The result is a formidable collection of fiction and non-fiction works that soon will be published in a book.
